First edit music video

Below is the first edit to my music video. When first editing the video I didn't think I had enough shots and didn't want to use the same shots over and over again. I asked my target audience what they thought of the first edit and they agreed that I should add more shots to the video. I also thought that I should have something in the video to show the narrative to do this I took photographs of objects such as magazines, perfumes, shoes; typical interests of a 'material girl'.

Test Shots

I did test shots before recording the final shots. I chose to do test shots to check the camera angle and for the actors to practice through the performance on the camera. I then watched the test shots before filming the final shots to see if any changes needed making to avoid having to re-shoot as much footage. Below is one example of a test shot that I recorded.

I have chosen three different locations for my filming. The reason I have chose 3 locations is because the story of my music video is whatever lifestyle you live materials are still important.

My first location is in the woods near the Humber bridge. I have chose this location as it is dark and dull. In this location I will show the actors living in a tent in the woods. The tent, welly boots and rain coats being there material items that they need.

The second location in the music video is a caravan. Again showing a different type of lifestyle. This location shows the actors living in one space, the kitchen bedroom, living area and bathroom all being in one small caravan. This is also a fairly dull location however lighter than the woods.

The last location that I will film in is the gardens of ‘Lees rest homes’ an old peoples home in my area. The gardens in the home are very large with lots of colours. The buildings also have a glamorous fairytale feel. This location will show the actors as ‘princesses’ in glamorous dresses and lots of jewellery, these being the materials for this lifestyle.

Health and safety

I have filmed in 3 different locations whilst creating my media video. The first location was woods near the Humber bridge. The only health and safety risks with this location were slipping on the wet muddy ground or tripping up over the twigs. Another risk with this location was taking expensive equipment (camera) into the woods as it could have been stolen from me. The second location was in a caravan at my friends house there wasn’t any health and safety issues with this location. The last location of all was the grounds/ gardens of an old peoples home in my area. When I asked permission to film in the gardens I was warned by management that certain areas of the ground were slippery and to be careful. Another danger whilst filming in the gardens were the actors falling down the stairs which I filmed on.

Storyboard

Synopsis

My music video will have 2 female characters to relate to the song ‘material girls’ I am using the idea of a ‘Cinderella story’ for my music video. I will video 2 female actors as ‘Cinderella’ at the beginning of the story, poor and in scruffy clothes, I will edit these clips and make them sepia or black and white to make them look sad and depressed. I am then going to film letters and cheques being posted through the door and show the actors opening them. I will then film the actors spending the money and going on shopping sprees this will be filmed in colour along with the rest of the trailer. I will create a montage of different pictures in the video. At the end of the video I will have writing displaying ‘The End’ in an old fashioned text, like a fairytale story.
